Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 11, 2026

Last Updated: June 11, 2026

Supersedes: the Privacy Policy effective April 20, 2026.

Privacy at a glance

Jam Band Graveyard does not sell your information. We do not use your data for advertising. Here’s what you should know:

  • The Luminary Field: Placing a luminary stores a virtual location and timestamp. Names only enter our system if you check the box to submit one for review for possible public display. Private ether messages (the optional private message you can release into the field) are never sent to us; they stay in your browser only.
  • Tribute and story submissions: If you share a story or submit content through our forms, we receive and store what you send us. If we publish it, it may be publicly visible and indexed by search engines.
  • Google Forms: If you submit a Google Form used by JBG, we receive the information you choose to provide in that form. Our current Google Form settings are configured to collect only the responses and files, if any, that you choose to submit.
  • Donations: We do not sell donor information or share donor lists with other organizations for their fundraising or marketing purposes.
  • Analytics: We use Google Analytics with privacy settings enabled. We do not use it for advertising.
  • Questions or requests: Email support@jambandgraveyard.org or legal@jambandgraveyard.org.

Jam Band Graveyard (“JBG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to handling your information with care, dignity, and restraint. JBG is a nonprofit organization incorporated in Illinois and operates the Site from the United States for a national audience.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Jam Band Graveyard website, including The Luminary Field, how we use it, when we share it, how long we keep it, and what choices you may have.

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through the Jam Band Graveyard website, including any pages, forms, features, or tools made available through the website (collectively, the “Site”), and through communications you send to us in connection with the Site, including tribute submissions, “Share About Who You Miss” submissions, submission feedback, follow-up communications, newsletter signups, Luminary Field interactions, donation-related communications, and privacy-related or legal requests.

Because JBG is a memorial and educational site, some of the information you share with us may relate to sensitive life events, grief, loss, illness, death, or the memory of a deceased person or pet. We approach that information with care. At the same time, if content is submitted for publication or public display and is published or displayed, some information may become public and may not be fully retractable after publication or display.

1. Scope of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through:

  • the Site;
  • forms made available through the Site;
  • Google Forms or similar third-party form tools used by JBG to collect “Share About Who You Miss” submissions, submission feedback, corrections, contact information, privacy concerns, or other Site-related information;
  • The Luminary Field and related luminary-placement features;
  • email communications you send to JBG in connection with tribute submissions, corrections, removals, privacy concerns, legal concerns, or general questions;
  • newsletter signup forms or other opt-in communication tools used by JBG; and
  • donation-related tools, pages, forms, or third-party services used to support JBG.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected by third-party websites, platforms, or services that JBG does not control, even if those third parties are linked from the Site or interact with the Site in some way.

2. What We Collect

The Luminary Field at a glance

If you place a luminary, JBG stores the luminary’s virtual field location and placement time.

If you type a name, nickname, initials, pet name, or similar brief identifying text and check the box for review for possible public display, JBG stores that text and reviews it before it appears in the visible field.

If you type a name or similar identifying text but do not check the public-display review box, that text is discarded and not stored.

If you type a private ether message, that message stays in your browser, is not sent to JBG, and is not stored.

Information you provide directly

We may collect information you choose to provide to us, including:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the contents of tribute submissions, stories, photos, captions, and related materials you send to us;
  • information included in “Share About Who You Miss” submissions, including the name or identifying information of the person or pet being remembered, your relationship to them, story text, captions, publication preferences, consent or permission responses, follow-up information, and any files or images you choose to upload;
  • information you provide through submission feedback forms, including comments, ratings, suggestions, correction requests, concerns, contact information, information about your experience with the submission process, or other feedback you choose to share with JBG;
  • information you include when contacting us by email or through forms on the Site;
  • information you provide when signing up for our email list;
  • donation-related information, if you choose to make a donation or communicate with us about a donation;
  • luminary placement information, including virtual field coordinates and the date and time the luminary was placed;
  • names, nicknames, initials, pet names, or similar brief identifying text submitted through The Luminary Field, but only if you check the box to submit that text for review for possible public display;
  • your public-display selection for any name or identifying text submitted through The Luminary Field;
  • moderation or approval-status records associated with names or identifying text submitted for Luminary Field public-display review; and
  • any other information you voluntarily choose to share with us.

What we do not collect through The Luminary Field

Private ether messages. The Luminary Field includes an optional private message feature. Any message released into the ether is processed entirely within your browser. It is not transmitted to or received by JBG, is not stored by Firebase or any other third-party service, and is not retained in any database. JBG does not have access to ether messages.

Because ether messages are not transmitted or stored, JBG cannot retrieve, review, edit, delete, publish, or recover them.

Names not submitted for public-display review. If you type a name, nickname, initials, pet name, or similar identifying text but do not check the box to submit it for review for possible public display, that text is not stored with the luminary. It is discarded at the time of submission, and JBG does not receive, review, or retain it.

The Luminary Field does not ask visitors to create an account, log in, provide an email address, provide a phone number, submit payment information, or share real-world location data in order to place a luminary. The Luminary Field feature itself does not collect device IDs, advertising IDs, or browser fingerprints.

The virtual field coordinates associated with a luminary are internal rendering values used to place the luminary within the online field. They do not represent real-world geographic location.

Any hidden anti-spam or honeypot field used by The Luminary Field is used for spam-prevention purposes only and is not retained by JBG.

Sensitive information

Because JBG is a memorial and educational site, some tribute submissions or “Share About Who You Miss” submissions may include limited health-related or cause-of-death information when it is part of the story you choose to share. For example, a submission may mention that a person died of cancer, lived with an illness, or experienced another life circumstance relevant to the remembrance.

Please use care when sharing private details, especially details about living people. Avoid submitting highly private records, detailed treatment history, private contact information, financial details, legal documents, or other information that would not be appropriate to publish or share with JBG unless it is necessary for us to understand and respond to your submission, concern, or request.

Uploaded files

If a form allows file uploads, uploaded files may include metadata or identifying information depending on the file. Please review files before uploading them and avoid submitting private information about living people unless appropriate. Please upload only files you have the right to share with JBG.

Submission-related records we may create or retain internally

If you submit content for review or publication, provide feedback, or contact us about a submission, we may also create or retain internal records related to that submission or communication, including:

  • submission history;
  • correspondence with you about the submission or feedback;
  • requests for revisions, additions, corrections, or removals;
  • anonymity requests;
  • permissions or consent-related communications;
  • moderation notes;
  • dispute-related communications; and
  • records reasonably necessary for legal compliance, safety, or administrative purposes.

Limited technical, security, and analytics information

When you use the Site, we may receive limited technical information needed to operate, secure, protect, and understand how the Site is used. This may include:

  • IP address;
  • browser type;
  • device or system information;
  • access time;
  • limited technical interaction data associated with security protections;
  • server-log information maintained by our hosting or infrastructure providers; and
  • usage and navigation data collected through analytics tools, including pages visited, session duration, scroll behavior, and traffic source.

We do not use this information for behavioral profiling or advertising.

3. Analytics, Cookies, Browser Storage, Firebase, and Google Forms

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to collect information about how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect data such as pages visited, time spent on pages, geographic region, device type, and how visitors arrived at the Site. This information helps us understand how the Site is being used and how to improve it.

JBG has not configured Google Analytics to collect names, email addresses, private ether messages, or the contents of tribute submissions, “Share About Who You Miss” submissions, submission feedback forms, Luminary Field submissions, or other form submissions. Google Analytics may collect technical and usage information such as first-party cookie identifiers, device and browser information, page views, approximate location derived from technical information, and interaction data used to generate aggregate reports.

We have configured Google Analytics with the following privacy settings: advertising signals are disabled, Google Signals is off, remarketing is off, and data retention is set to the shortest available period. No visitor to JBG will be targeted with advertising by JBG as a result of their visit to this Site.

For more information about how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see Google’s privacy policy. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Firebase

The Luminary Field uses Firebase Realtime Database, a service provided by Google LLC, to store luminary placement records. These records may include virtual field coordinates, the date and time a luminary was placed, the visitor’s public-display selection, JBG’s moderation or approval status, and any name, nickname, initials, pet name, or similar brief identifying text that the visitor checked the box to submit for review for possible public display.

If a visitor types a name or similar identifying text but does not check the box to submit it for review for possible public display, that text is not stored in Firebase.

The Luminary Field does not use Firebase to store private ether messages. JBG has not enabled Firebase Analytics or Firebase Advertising features.

The Luminary Field uses the Firebase Realtime Database JavaScript SDK. Unlike some other Firebase products, the Realtime Database SDK does not use IndexedDB, localStorage, or other persistent browser storage mechanisms by default. JBG has not enabled offline persistence.

For more information about how Google processes data through Firebase, see Google’s privacy policy.

Google Forms and other Google Workspace tools

JBG may use Google Forms or similar third-party form tools to collect “Share About Who You Miss” submissions, submission feedback, corrections, contact information, privacy concerns, or other Site-related information.

When you submit information through a Google Form used by JBG, the information you provide is transmitted to Google and made available to JBG through Google Forms. JBG may also store, review, export, or manage Google Form responses through Google Drive, Google Sheets, or other Google Workspace tools.

JBG’s current Google Forms are configured to collect only the information requested in the form and freely provided by the person submitting it, including any files the person chooses to upload if a form allows file uploads. JBG does not configure its Google Forms to collect additional hidden information beyond the responses and files submitted through the form.

A “Share About Who You Miss” submission may include your name, email address, the name or identifying information of the person or pet being remembered, your relationship to them, story text, captions, publication preferences, consent or permission responses, follow-up information, and any files or images you choose to upload.

A submission feedback form may include comments, ratings, suggestions, correction requests, concerns, contact information, information about your experience with the submission process, and any other information you choose to provide.

Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and other Google Workspace tools are provided by Google and are subject to Google’s own terms and privacy practices. JBG controls how it uses the responses it receives, but JBG does not control Google’s independent privacy practices.

The Google Form submission or feedback process is separate from The Luminary Field. The Luminary Field’s private ether messages and unchecked name fields are not transmitted to JBG or stored, as described in this Privacy Policy.

Cookies and browser storage

JBG does not use first-party advertising or marketing cookies through the Site. The Site and services used to operate it may use cookies or browser storage mechanisms for analytics, security, and site-operation purposes. These mechanisms are not used by JBG for advertising or to track visitors across other websites for commercial purposes.

The Luminary Field feature itself does not set advertising cookies. However, analytics or other third-party services used on the Site may set cookies or similar technologies as described in this Privacy Policy.

Depending on your location, certain analytics cookies or similar technologies may require consent or additional choices before they are used.

4. What We Do Not Currently Offer Through the Site

For clarity, JBG does not currently operate the Site as a user-account platform, public message board, or ecommerce storefront.

The Site does not currently provide:

  • user accounts for public posting or login-based profile management;
  • open public message-board functionality;
  • on-site purchases requiring payment card processing; or
  • first-party advertising or marketing cookie systems operated by JBG.

If that changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

Back to top

5. Donations and Third-Party Donation Services

If you make a donation to JBG, donation-related information may be collected by JBG or by third-party donation, payment-processing, or fundraising platforms used to process the donation. This may include your name, contact information, donation amount, transaction details, and any information you choose to provide with the donation.

JBG does not store full payment-card numbers on the Site. Payment information is processed by third-party payment or donation providers according to their own terms and privacy policies.

JBG uses donor information to process and acknowledge donations, maintain required financial and tax records, communicate with donors, and support nonprofit administration. JBG does not sell donor information.

JBG does not sell, trade, rent, or share donor lists with other organizations for their fundraising or marketing purposes.

JBG does not publicly identify donors without their permission.

Donors may contact support@jambandgraveyard.org to request removal from donor communications or to ask questions about how donor information is used.

6. How We Use Information

We may use the information we collect to:

  • review, process, and respond to tribute submissions and related communications;
  • review, process, and respond to “Share About Who You Miss” submissions;
  • review and respond to submission feedback, correction requests, usability comments, concerns, or other feedback provided through Google Forms or similar tools;
  • operate The Luminary Field and display luminaries within the field;
  • review names or similar identifying text submitted for possible public display with a luminary;
  • communicate with you about a submission, update, correction, removal request, donation, feedback, or privacy concern;
  • publish submitted content if accepted, including with attribution or anonymously if requested and approved;
  • process and acknowledge donations;
  • maintain records related to submissions, feedback, donations, permissions, moderation decisions, disputes, and legal compliance;
  • operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Site;
  • understand how the Site is used and identify ways to better serve the community;
  • investigate or respond to reports about privacy, consent, intellectual property, harmful content, or other concerns;
  • send newsletters or other updates to people who have chosen to receive them;
  • protect the rights, safety, dignity, and integrity of JBG, contributors, visitors, donors, and others; and
  • comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests or process.

We do not use your contact information to send newsletter or other email updates unless you have signed up to receive them or unless the communication is administrative, transactional, legal, safety-related, or otherwise related to your interaction with JBG.

We do not use Luminary Field submissions for behavioral advertising.

Back to top

7. Publication, Public Visibility, and Anonymity

Tribute submissions, “Share About Who You Miss” submissions, and other submitted content

If you submit content for publication and JBG accepts and publishes it, that content may become visible to the public.

Publicly available content may be:

  • viewed by visitors to the Site;
  • indexed by search engines;
  • shared by others through links, screenshots, reposts, or social media;
  • included in JBG newsletters or official social channels; and
  • retained in archives, cached pages, backups, or previously distributed materials.

If you request anonymity and JBG agrees to publish your submission anonymously, we will omit your name from the public-facing version of the content. However, public anonymity does not mean anonymity to JBG. We may retain your identity and contact information internally for review, follow-up, recordkeeping, safety, moderation, and legal purposes.

Because of the nature of online publication, content that has been published may not be fully retractable even if later removed from the Site.

The Luminary Field

The Luminary Field is designed to display virtual luminaries publicly. When you place a luminary, the luminary itself may appear in the field for other visitors to see.

If you check the box to submit a name, nickname, initials, pet name, or similar brief identifying text for review for possible public display with a luminary, that text will be reviewed by JBG before it appears in the visible field interface. JBG may approve, decline, remove, or decline to display any submitted text at its discretion.

Names and similar identifying text submitted for public-display review are stored while awaiting review. Names or identifying text pending approval may not appear in the visible field interface, but they may still exist in the underlying Luminary Field database.

If you type a name or similar identifying text but do not check the box to submit it for public-display review, that text is discarded and is not stored with the luminary.

What is stored in the Luminary Field database

The Luminary Field uses a Firebase Realtime Database to display luminaries to visitors. The records stored in that database contain only: virtual field coordinates, which are internal rendering values with no real-world geographic meaning; the timestamp of when a luminary was placed; a public-display preference flag; a moderation or approval status flag; and, only if a visitor checked the box, a name, nickname, initials, pet name, or similar brief identifying text.

Because the database is publicly readable so that luminaries can appear to all visitors, these records may be directly accessible to anyone who knows JBG’s Firebase project URL, which is present in the page source as part of normal web application operation. In practical terms, this means that while the data is minimal and does not include private ether messages or names that were not submitted for public display, it is not restricted to the visible field interface.

This public read access is part of the feature’s current design. It is not permission for visitors or third parties to modify, delete, misuse, scrape, republish, or exploit the data. Misuse, scraping, republishing, or exploitation of Luminary Field data may also be addressed under JBG’s Terms of Service, Community Ethics, or other applicable site rules.

The Luminary Field page provides a short privacy notice near the public-display checkbox explaining that names are stored only if the visitor checks the box for review for possible public display, and that private ether messages are not sent to JBG or stored.

JBG may remove or decline to display Luminary Field text that includes private information, appears to identify a living person in a harmful or invasive way, includes contact information, appears abusive or misleading, or otherwise does not align with the purpose of The Luminary Field.

8. When We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We may share information in the following circumstances:

With service providers

We may share information with third-party service providers that help us operate or support the Site, including providers involved in:

  • website hosting;
  • email communications;
  • email newsletter, email delivery, or contact-management services;
  • donation processing or donor administration;
  • technical support;
  • security and abuse prevention;
  • analytics;
  • database storage;
  • Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Sheets, or similar submission-management tools;
  • feature operation, including The Luminary Field; and
  • form handling or similar operational functions.

These providers may process information on our behalf to support JBG’s operations.

The Luminary Field uses third-party service providers, including Firebase and other Google services, to store and display luminary records and to support operation of the feature.

JBG does not sell, rent, or provide Luminary Field submissions to advertisers. JBG does not use Luminary Field submissions for behavioral advertising. However, third-party analytics or infrastructure providers may process technical or analytics information under their own terms and privacy policies.

With the public

If you submit content that JBG accepts and publishes, the content you submit may be made public on the Site or through JBG newsletters, official social media channels, or similar nonprofit outreach communications, subject to any anonymity arrangement JBG has agreed to honor.

If you check the box to submit a name, nickname, initials, pet name, or similar brief identifying text for public-display review through The Luminary Field, that text may become publicly visible if approved by JBG. As described above, stored Luminary Field records may also be technically accessible through the underlying database used to display the field.

For legal, safety, and integrity reasons

We may disclose information if we believe doing so is reasonably necessary to:

  • comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or lawful governmental request;
  • protect the rights, property, safety, dignity, or integrity of JBG, contributors, Site visitors, donors, or others;
  • investigate misuse of the Site or violations of our Terms of Service or Community Ethics; or
  • respond to urgent situations involving safety, privacy, abuse, or potential harm.

In connection with organizational changes

We may transfer information as part of a merger, restructuring, transfer of assets, or similar organizational change if information must be transferred as part of that process.

With your direction or consent

We may also share information if you ask us to do so or otherwise consent.

Back to top

9. Email Communications

If you sign up to receive JBG newsletters or other email updates, we may send you those communications.

You may opt out of newsletter or other email updates at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting us at support@jambandgraveyard.org.

Even if you opt out of newsletter or other email updates, we may still contact you about:

  • a tribute submission;
  • a “Share About Who You Miss” submission;
  • submission feedback or a related concern;
  • a donation or donation-related administrative matter;
  • a privacy request;
  • a correction or removal issue;
  • a legal, safety, or consent-related concern; or
  • other administrative matters related to the Site.

Back to top

10. Data Retention

The short version: we keep records for as long as we need them to run this site responsibly. Some records stay in our system even after content is removed from public view. A deletion request does not guarantee that every associated record is erased.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:

  • review and manage submissions;
  • review and manage submission feedback;
  • communicate with contributors, feedback providers, and requestors;
  • process donations and maintain financial or tax records;
  • maintain archives, backups, and administrative records;
  • document permissions, disputes, moderation decisions, and removal history;
  • comply with legal obligations; and
  • protect the Site and community.

Google Form submissions, feedback responses, and related records may be retained in Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Sheets, exported files, internal review records, or other administrative systems for as long as reasonably necessary to review and manage the submission or feedback, communicate with the submitter, document permissions or publication choices, handle disputes or removal requests, improve the Site, comply with legal obligations, and support JBG’s nonprofit operations.

Because of the nature of memorial submissions and publication workflows, some records may be retained even after content is removed from public view. For example, JBG may retain internal records relating to:

  • consent or permission history;
  • authorship or ownership questions;
  • privacy-related concerns;
  • moderation decisions;
  • dispute correspondence; and
  • legal compliance or risk management.

Deleted or removed information may persist for a limited period in backups, logs, archival systems, Google Workspace tools, exported files, or third-party systems before being overwritten or deleted according to the relevant system’s normal retention process.

We do not promise that every deletion or removal request will result in complete erasure of all associated records.

The Luminary Field

Luminary records may be retained for as long as The Luminary Field remains active, unless removed earlier at JBG’s discretion or in response to a removal request JBG is able to verify and process.

Luminary records may include virtual field coordinates, timestamp, public-display preference, moderation or approval status, and, if submitted by checking the box for public-display review, a name, nickname, initials, pet name, or similar brief identifying text.

Luminary placements that do not include a name or other identifying text marked for public display may not be identifiable to JBG. If you request removal of an unnamed luminary, JBG will make reasonable efforts to locate it based on details you provide, such as the approximate date, time, and timezone of placement. However, if multiple unnamed luminaries were placed around the same time, JBG may not be able to identify the specific luminary with certainty.

Private ether messages are not retained and are not subject to retention or deletion requests because JBG does not receive, store, or have access to them.

JBG may periodically review Luminary Field records and may remove records that are no longer needed, that do not align with the purpose of the feature, that create privacy, moderation, safety, technical, or legal concerns, or that are removed in response to a request JBG is able to process.

JBG may archive, migrate, modify, or remove Luminary Field data if needed for operational, technical, moderation, legal, preservation, or site-integrity reasons.

Back to top

11. Your Choices and Requests

You may contact us to request that we:

  • update or correct information you have provided to us;
  • remove you from our newsletter list;
  • review a request to delete or remove certain personal information we hold about you;
  • review a privacy concern related to content on the Site;
  • review a concern about public anonymity, identifying information, or sensitive information appearing in published content;
  • review a concern related to a Google Form submission, submission feedback response, file upload, or other form response; or
  • review a removal request related to The Luminary Field.

We will review requests in light of applicable law, the nature of the request, our legal obligations, the public or archival status of the content, and the need to retain certain records for administrative, safety, archival, financial, tax, or legal reasons.

A request to remove published content, or information associated with published content, may also be handled under JBG’s Terms of Service and related reporting processes.

If you request deletion or removal of a submission, feedback response, or related information provided through Google Forms or similar tools, JBG will review the request and make reasonable efforts to remove or restrict access to relevant records where appropriate. Some records may be retained for administrative, archival, moderation, legal, financial, safety, or dispute-resolution reasons.

If you believe a tribute, “Share About Who You Miss” submission, Luminary Field entry, or other public Site content includes private, identifying, inaccurate, harmful, or inappropriate information about you or another living person, please contact support@jambandgraveyard.org or legal@jambandgraveyard.org so JBG can review the concern.

Luminary Field removal requests

To request removal of a Luminary Field entry, please contact JBG and include as much information as you can, such as:

  • the approximate date and time the luminary was placed;
  • the timezone you were in when you placed it;
  • the submitted name, nickname, initials, pet name, or identifying text, if any; and
  • any other details that may help us identify the entry.

JBG will make reasonable efforts to locate and remove the entry. However, JBG may not be able to identify a specific unnamed luminary if multiple unnamed entries were placed around the same time.

If you checked the box to submit a name, nickname, initials, pet name, or similar brief identifying text for public-display review and wish to have it removed, contact us at support@jambandgraveyard.org or legal@jambandgraveyard.org.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and JBG does not knowingly collect personal information through the Site from children under 13.

The Luminary Field is publicly accessible and does not require visitors to create an account or provide age information. JBG does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through The Luminary Field.

The Luminary Field is intended for people age 13 and older. Visitors under 13 should not use The Luminary Field’s submission features or submit names or other identifying information through the Site.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, including through a Google Form, submission form, feedback form, or The Luminary Field, please contact us at legal@jambandgraveyard.org so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

If JBG becomes aware that personal information from a child under 13 has been collected through the Site without appropriate authorization, we will review the situation and take action we believe is appropriate under the circumstances.

13. International Visitors

JBG is the organization responsible for the privacy practices described in this Privacy Policy.

JBG is based in the United States, and the Site and The Luminary Field are operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or in other locations where our service providers operate.

If privacy laws in your jurisdiction provide specific rights related to access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, portability, or withdrawal of consent, you may contact us at legal@jambandgraveyard.org. We will review your request in light of applicable law, the nature of the information, and our ability to identify the relevant record.

Back to top

14. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information we hold from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure.

The Luminary Field uses technical measures intended to limit what can be submitted and to protect the integrity of the field. For example, Luminary Field data is transmitted over HTTPS, submissions must match the expected data structure, and public visitors are not permitted to modify or delete existing entries.

Some technical information, such as Firebase configuration details or API keys, may be visible in the page source as part of normal web application operation. Access to Luminary Field data is controlled through database security rules and administrative access controls, not by keeping those public configuration values secret.

JBG administrative access to Luminary Field data is managed through administrative tools and account-based access controls. Access to Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Workspace tools, donor records, newsletter tools, and other administrative systems is limited to authorized JBG personnel.

However, no website, form, online system, email transmission, database, third-party service, or storage method is completely secure. For that reason, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

15. Third-Party Links and External Services

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, resources, or services. JBG is not responsible for the privacy practices, content, security, or policies of third-party sites or services.

Third-party services used for The Luminary Field, forms, and the Site

The Site, The Luminary Field, Google Forms, and related JBG workflows may use third-party services to operate, host, load, secure, collect submissions, process feedback, process donations, send email communications, manage newsletters, or measure use of the Site and its features. These may include:

  • Firebase Realtime Database or Google Cloud services, used to store Luminary Field records;
  • Firebase JavaScript SDK and Google-hosted assets, used to load parts of the feature;
  • Google Forms, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and other Google Workspace tools, used to collect, store, review, export, or manage submissions, submission feedback, corrections, contact information, or other Site-related responses;
  • Google Analytics, used to understand general Site and page usage;
  • Google Fonts, used to load fonts used by the Site;
  • WP Engine, used for website hosting;
  • Elementor, used to build or manage parts of the Site;
  • email newsletter, email delivery, or contact-management providers;
  • third-party donation, payment-processing, donor-management, or fundraising platforms; and
  • similar operational providers.

These services may process technical information such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, usage information, contact information, newsletter subscription information, form response information, uploaded files, or transaction-related information according to their own terms and privacy policies. JBG does not control those providers’ independent privacy practices.

If the Site loads Google Fonts or other Google-hosted assets from Google servers, Google may receive technical information such as the visitor’s IP address as part of delivering those files.
